Reid

solid stone grey
authority of concrete,
going nowhere
and fine in the shade,
footed firmly,

just as sure in the rain
as in the sun, the wind,
or the leaf eclipse
escaping from the trees

founded in bedrock
rising gracefully
to a curling pool
that invites all:
the birds, seeds,
fallen leaves

offering drink
to seekers,
immovable,
but moving inside,
with ripples
and shooting
skyward

the fountain,
a place to cool,
to watch life,
to live it
and learn
